JJ started his cycling career in 1995 as a road cyclist and after a few months of training competed in Die Burger Cycle Tour. After this he also competed in fourteen Cape Argus Cycle Tours, twelve Burger Sanlam Tours, ten 94.7 cycle challenges, one OFM Classis and one Fast One Cycle Tour.

In 2007 JJ became a registered team manager and managed the CPI ladies Racing Team for numerous tours including the Argus, 94.7, Western Cape League Tour, Southern Cape Championships and the SA Champs.JJ had the age category team 40-45 years which won numerous medals at the Western Cape and Southern Cape Championships as well as the Southern African Champs.

 

In 2006 JJ started the CA2CX cycle tour. For the first four years this was a road cycle tour which changed to a mountain biking tour in 2010 after a chat around a fire at Warmwater Berg Spa in 2009.

This cycle tour is a unique tour that starts off in Bellville and travels through Wellington, Paarl, Worcester, Robertson, Montagu, Van Wyk's Dorp, Calitzdorp, Outshoorn, George and then finally reaching the beautiful valley of Knysna in just 6 days. The team usually consists of approximately thirty riders and a back up crew.

JJ is also involved in numerous other projects including corporate training weekend camps, epic training camps and managing DC Teams.

He is also available to structure any cycling tour of special cycling event you might require.

 

JJ is also involved in various charity organizations including Herberg Kinderhuis and was involved in an event during the Cape Epic 2012 that raised R14 000 for the Robertson Children's home.
